Malaysia’s economy in 2025 grew by 5.2%  from 5.1% in 2024 with all main sectors recording positive growth.

According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), the economy grew at its fastest pace in 12 quarters by registering 6.3% in the final quarter of 2025.

For the whole of 2025, growth was led by services at 5.5%, followed by manufacturing and construction. On the demand side, economic expansion was driven by private final consumption expenditure, which increased to 5.2%.

Malaysia’s economic outlook for 2026 is expected to remain resilient, supported by domestic demand, particularly household spending and investment activities. (Access the latest statistics from BIMP-EAGA's subregional database.)

The 13th Malaysia Plan sets the strategic direction for economic and social development from 2026 to 2030. It is a continuation of the Ekonomi MADANI: Memperkasa Rakyat policy, which was introduced in 2023 and aims to restructure the economy to "elevate the status and dignity of Malaysia toward becoming a leading economy in the Southeast Asia region."
